This is my friend Nathan Poppe. He and Steven Hopkins, another good friend, started a weekly video project for the OColly.com called “On.”
They’ve completed two episodes, which are pretty great. I helped film the third, which featured Riley Jantzen of the band Mayola. They’re a local band and have great energy on stage. I saw them at Norman Music Festival and for me, they had the most fun show next to Of Montreal.
You can sample their music on their MySpace here, or see a few photos of their Norman Music Festival show here.
Just before we began filming, I dropped the filter that Steven made using his Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. It broke. I said a bad word.
Gah.
I felt miserable. Steven, who is one of the nicest people I know, immediately comforted me and told me it was OK. I didn’t feel OK.
The first thing I did when I got home was order a new one. The first piece of Canon equipment I’ve purchased. Hopefully the last!

Let me buy you dinner you wonderful man you.
